Description
Established in Venice in 1846, Missiaglia is one of the world's premier makers of the finest jewelry objects, as well as a select number of bespoke sterling silver tabletop accessories. This handcrafted mushroom salt Shaker and pepper mill showcase the skill of Missiaglia's artisans in rendering life-like plant and animal forms in silver. Created to resemble stylized Amanita Muscaria mushrooms, the handle of the pepper grinder is executed as a bulbous stem which also conceals the mill's pepper well. The cap of the mushroom, which turns to grind the pepper is finely articulated and features a small snail shell at the top. This shell unscrews to separate the cap from the stem, which allows the user to fill the mill with peppercorns. Almost identical, the salt Shaker is also exquisitely crafted. Its cap is punctured to allow for salt dispersal and easily twists off from the stem. Quite simply, these are the finest tabletop products that money can buy. These would surely have been the choice of the Medicis.
Italy, 21st century.
