Polychrome Delft Charger
Dutch, second half 18th c.
Monogram on verso: AK
Earthenware, tin-glazed
Over-all in great condition, very minor losses around the edge of rim.
Provenance: Cowan’s Auctions, Cincinnati, Ohio, 2019; Personal Collection of Donald A. Rich Interiors and Antiques, New Canaan, Connecticut.
This large Delftware charger features a stylized urn with symmetrically arranged flowers, flanked by birds decorated with bright polychrome tin-glaze.
The monogram AK could be attributed to either Albertus Kiell or Anthoni Kruisweg, both working in the mid-18th c. in Holland.
