Description
Sculptural Bowl or Centerpiece in Travertine
A sculptural bowl or centerpiece in travertine.
Carved from travertine, this sculptural bowl features a wide, softly curved rim that transitions gently into an asymmetrically placed shallow inner basin.
Its profile is low and disc-like, tapering from a broad circular rim into a totally round underside. Because of this gentle and continuous slope, the bowl seems to hover just above the surface it rests upon. The asymmetrical nature of the top and the totally round underside make for a striking and interesting equilibrium.
The bowl feels timeless and unbound to any particular era and can be pictured in an ancient monastery, a sculptor’s studio, or an elegant home. The travertine itself carries the language of time. Fine mineral pores, small irregularities, and muted tonal shifts can be seen throughout the surface.
Could be used as a decorative piece, but is also usable if desired. Place fruit, keys, or nothing at all - everything works.
