Description
Decorated Favrile Glass “Flower Frog” Centerpiece
Tiffany Studios
circa 1914-15
Known as a “Flower Frog,” this TIffany Favrile Glass Centerpiece was intended to display rare cut stem flowers, a popular hobby at the turn of the twentieth century. The cylindrical center features two stacked rows of delicately applied undulating glass threads which form series of scalloped openings designed to hold stems upright, allowing rare and exotic flowers to be displayed to their full potential.
This example is formed by deeply saturated blue glass accented by brilliant rainbow iridescence, which accents the leaf and vine decoration on the interior of the bowl.
This exceptional example of original Tiffany Favrile Glass is inscribed on the underside with signature and date code.
