Description
A ceramic square plate with white-celadon glaze by Japanese potter Yoshikawa Masamichi (1946-). The sharp-edged plate features a concaved center and wide border. Cobalt blue lines in bands were drawn to cross at the center. The base also has a similar cross rendering and was signed and incised with the date Dec 4th, 2004. The plate comes with a wood tomobako box with inscription of the title, artist's signature and two red seals under the lid.
Yoshikawa Masamichi was Born in Kanagawa Prefecture near Tokyo and based in Tokoname. He creates ceramic with seihakuji glaze in his signature style that is difference from the more delicate works by other seihakuji artists such as Fukami Sueharu and Yagi Akira. His glaze is thick with pooling and dripping and his form more abstract and robust. -
