A pair of Turkish 19th century antique Ottoman embroideries
Turkey, 19th century
Small: height 31cm, width 37cm, depth 0.5cm
Large: height 47cm, width 68cm, depth 0.5cm
Made in the nineteenth century, these fine and remarkable antique embroideries were made in Turkey during the Ottoman empire. Each is deftly woven with Arabic inscriptions, the smaller features verse in a central circle decorated with an intricate knotted pattern; the larger shows the Kaaba, set within a blue rectangular frame with further patterns and verse in oval around the outside. -
