Description
Very large Bohemian Belle Époque style coloured cut glass chandelier
Bohemian, 20th Century
Height 280cm, diameter 120cm
This magnificent Bohemian chandelier, crafted with exceptional skill, combines impressive scale with exquisite decorative detail. Its artistry is immediately evident in the richly ornamented central column, formed from stacked glass sections overlaid in white and green and highlighted with gilt accents.
Suspended from the frame, cascades of glass beads and droplets in clear, orange, and blue sparkle as they catch and reflect the light. From two petal-edged dishes, further garlands fall in elegant sweeps, heightening the chandelier’s sense of grandeur and movement.
The expansive lower tier is distinguished by scrolling glass arms in green with gilded embellishments. Each arm supports a clear glass bobeche trimmed with pendants and droplets, while additional coloured-glass details in shades of red and blue add richness and variety. Rising above, etched hurricane shades bear delicate motifs of flowers, animals, and monograms, lending refinement and artistry to the design.
At the base, decorative elements echo the central stem and arms, uniting the composition with visual harmony.
With its striking proportions and refined ornamentation, this chandelier is a dramatic centrepiece designed to transform any interior with colour, elegance, and brilliance. -
