Joan Miró “Femme au miroir” Tapestry
The Modern Masters Tapestries Gallery is thrilled to unveil Femme au miroir by Joan Miró. This extraordinary tapestry is a captivating embodiment of the artist’s iconic surrealist style. Miró’s signature blend of symbolic imagery, playful forms, and vibrant colors creates a dreamlike world that invites the viewer into a realm of endless interpretation.
Depicting an abstracted female figure on one side and a mirrored reflection on the other, the tapestry is enveloped in a soothing blue hue and framed by a black border teeming with Miró’s signature biomorphic elements. This intriguing composition draws the eye inward, encouraging a playful exploration of the artwork’s myriad symbols and lines.
Miró’s technique of “psychic automatism” allowed the unconscious to guide his hand, resulting in a tapestry that evokes a wide range of emotions and personal connections.
Crafted in the esteemed Aubusson tradition, this pristine tapestry is the first in a limited edition of eight. It features Miró’s signature woven into the lower right corner and bears the authentic Atelier Pinton bolduc. A testament to the artist’s enduring brilliance, Femme au miroir is a masterpiece that will captivate and inspire for generations to come. -
