TAPESTRY CARTOON, FRANCE CIRCA 1900
Gouache on paper backed with acid-free paper and linen.
THESE CARTOONS WERE USED TO WEAVE TAPESTRIES ON JACQUARD LOOMS, THESE WERE THE FIRST
SEMI-MECHANICAL LOOMS INVENTED IN THE LATE 18TH C.
THIS CARTOON HAS COLOUR REFERENCES IN PENCIL ON THE SURFACE
