VERY LARGE VERDURE TAPESTRY CARTOON IN PASTORAL STYLE, AUBUSSON, FRANCE C. 1880
Large Aubusson tapestry cartoon in pastoral style, oil on canvas.
The cartoon has various scenes dotted within the green foliage displaying a variety of different subjects.
There is a king charles spaniel, a castle in the distance, a farmhouse and a pond of ducks amongst other things.
These cartoons were used to weave tapestries on a low warp loom.
The tapestry cartoon has been restored, and it is not on a stretcher.
