Description
Victorian Woolwork picture of a child playing with a cat. Worked in wool and silk on linen and silk ground, in a variety of stitches. Pictorial scene set in a country landscape. Depicts a young boy sitting on a basket outside his house, holding a ball of string. A cat sits on the windowsill above him. Trees and mountains in the background. Framed in an old, gilded, ornamented gesso frame with rippled, old glass. Mounting: The woolwork is tacked to a wood stretcher frame. Frame backed with card and sealed with tape.. Dimensions exclude the frame and slip.

Period: 19th Century Materials: Wool, embroidered Condition: Good. Generally Good. A couple of holes. Pinprick holes to the paper face. Some loose threads. Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. The sky looks to be recently reworked. Neatly and evenly stretched.
