This a charming late 19th or early 20th century plein aire paiting by the Italian artist Attilio Simonetti (1843-1925). The painting is inscribed al dorso "San Benedetto Del Tronto Sul Mare Adriatico." Simonetti is a listed Italian artist who is better known for his interior scenes; his plein aire post impressionist paintings are beautiful renditions of his native land and display mastery of painting realistic lighting of ordinary scenes. This painting has been newly cleaned and has had minor in-painting. This piece would be a great addition to a grouping of plein aire paintings.
