Description
A dramatic anatomical drawing of the lower face by Beeldens, Belgium, 1935.
Signed on upper right. Pencil on paper.
The Neue Sachlichkeit (new matter of fact-ness) sought to lay bare life and people to the most simple elements which bared their 'essence'. In this sense it was allied with the Bauhaus and Modernism. Leading artists of this group included George Grosz, Otto Dix, Max Beckmann and Christian Schad.
References: Modern Art, Neue Sachlichkeit, New Objectivity, Neoclassical, Anti-Expressionism, portrait. - More Information

T. Thomas Gargiulo came from a dual background as a Ph.D. in Psychology with extensive training in Art History and Anthropology to form Thomas Gallery in downtown Manhattan in 1997 to balance intellectual with design pursuits. Since its inception the gallery has seen decorative arts as a vibrant representation of human culture of each age and as a portal to understanding it. P: 917.434.4032 E: thomasgalleryltd@gmail.com
