An elegant Chinese window panel, handcrafted during a period when traditional architecture reached a climax of decorative variety and complexity. The intricate geometric lattice design allowed for the play of light and air while serving as a sophisticated partition within the classical Chinese home.
Circa 1900, this original period piece was created during the transition from the Qing Dynasty to the early Republic era.
Hand-carved from solid wood with a rich, aged patina and joined with traditional mortise and tenon techniques. Rooted in the Chinese architectural tradition, this panel reflects the cultural reverence for harmony and the symbolic beauty of geometric fretwork.
