Description
Oil On Canvas Portrait Of A Young Woman By Ernest Lee Major depicting an attractive young girl standing holding a book. Boston artist Major studied at the Corcoran Gallery Of Art and the Art Student League of New York where he studied with William Merritt Chase. He won a Panama-Pacific International Exposition award. A Harper Hargarten Prize winner he traveled to Europe and studied. Taught at the Cowles School and taught at the Mass Normal Art School. 1908 he moved to Fenway Studios where he taught and painted. In a carved and gilded frame. Unsigned on painting but has paper label with artist name and address and original selling price. MFA Boston has works by this artist.
