Description
German porcelain plaque in ornate carved Black Forest frame
German, 19th Century
Frame: Height 58cm, width 46cm, depth 6cm
Plaque: Height 23cm, width 30cm, depth 0.5cm
This wonderfully crafted item is comprised of two equally beautiful pieces: a finely painted porcelain plaque, and a deftly carved Black Forest wood frame. The plaque portrays the Finding of Moses and is delicately painted with vibrant colours; the frame is carved to resemble a classical ruin, its pediment tumbling under the weight of a growing palm.
The reverse of the porcelain plaque is impressed ‘319’. -
