Description
Modernist Ceramic Tile Wall Plaque of Sunflowers Signed Gilbert Valentin
$5,975.00
This beautiful and sophisticated Mid Century Modern tile wall plaque was realized by the esteemed modern artist Gilbert Valentin in France circa 1970. It features six tiles adjoined to form a rectangular composition depicting abstracted sunflowers. Against a mottled, highly textural vibrant (sunflower) yellow background, a ruby red vase sits in the foreground with two abstracted sunflowers ascending from its mouth. The leaves are represented as jagged amorphic blocks of turquoise while the flowers are yellow with hints of orange sapphire. With its energetic palate and sophisticated composition, this piece promises to bring more than a touch of elegance (and cheerful exuberance) to any interior that it graces. It would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Mid Century Modern to contemporary. It comes presented in a shadowbox gallery frame and is in excellent vintage condition.
