Description
Indian reverse glass painting of a maharajah and his wife in the original gilded frame. Painting on glass was introduced into India in the 18th century by itinerant Chinese artists and was generally a middle class art form. Glass paintings done for the rulers were of aristocrats and their mistresses. Pictures for the middle class were of deities. There are two others available in the same size frames.
