Description
Our objective is to procure some of the world’s most wonderful designs, and in this case, it seems that we’ve found the world itself. We immediately fell in love with this rarely seen stone art masterpiece which based on research we are attributing to Italian craftsmanship. Explore the continents of our Earth by way of tessellated Agate, Quartz, Marble, and more.
The map is faced with hundreds of hand-cut and placed pieces of stone making for an instantly recognizable magical mosaic. The mortar which brings all of these pieces together is cleverly colored to match throughout the map. The craftsmen also included stone longitude lines to further solidify their intended motif. To finish this piece, the entire face of the map was honed and polished so each stone element has the same thickness and luster.
This piece remains in its very good original condition, free of any wear which would effect its structural integrity. It has received a thorough cleaning from our team to restore the originally intended polished surface. We feel that this rarely seen piece of Italian craftsmanship would be most enjoyed wall-mounted as a sculpture serving as a focal point in any well appointed room. We recommend that a home professional be consulted for proper installation. Wherever its final home may be, you will undoubtedly find yourself gazing into an infinity of fine stonework, pinpointing destinations from fond travel memories and at those yet to come. -

Message from Seller:
Stories exist in many forms, we see them in objects. The aesthetic of those before us is passed down through their surviving creations. These are the objects we search for; to preserve, refine, & continue the story. Object Refinery combines design obsession, fine craftsmanship, and a love for history in our worldwide search for objects. Based in Connecticut, USA; we partner with a network of local artisans to restore and refine our findings before passing them on to the next collector.
