'Open Window with Flowers' Painting 1950s.
Quite an interesting painting - this one. Beautiful bright and uplifting with nice colors and a very good subject. Well painted. But the story behind it makes it even more interesting. On the back there is a plaquette to be found with the text 'L'art de la vieille russie - exécuté par les célèbres peintres artistes émigrés en Belgique.' That translates as 'Art from old Russia - made by famous painters who emigrated to Belgium.'
Unfortunately we don't know more about this painter, or the group of painters who worked together - but we think there must have been a group of free thinking artists who fled Russia during the early 20th century (at the time of the Russian Revolution?) and moved to Belgium. This painting was made by one of them - it is signed Kosloff so this could be the painter Fedor Kosloff, but we are not sure about that.
Nevertheless - a great painting and a good story. Beautifully framed as well.
