Painted Panel: The Monkey Artist and His Dog
-
Description
A painted folk art panel depicting a monkey artist in fine medieval dress seated at his easel painting his dog. The inscription in French below says that an artist should be sympatico with his model. A curious and conversation-starting subject matter, perhaps. Lovely muted colors. The painting is done on a wooden panel that was possibly once part of a street cart pushed by an itinerant artist.
