  • Description
    Ink with accents of gold on paper. By Kodama Sanrei (1915-2002) exhibited at the 1968 Nippu-ten. About the Artist: Kodama Sanrei was born in Nagano prefecture and studied under the avant-garde painter Kawabata Ryushi. He initally exhibited with the Seiryusha-kai (the salon exhibition of Ryushi's circle). He helped to establish the Nihon Gafu association (Nipputen Art Institute) in 1956. He was recognized with the Konshuhosho (Medal of Honor with blue ribbon) from the government in 1972, and received the International Arts Cultural Award in 1984 and ultimately the Imerial Order of the Sacred treasure in 1986.
