Description
Lovely piece of original Irish Art.
Original painting by popular and rapidly rising Irish Artist, Seamus Coleman of Co Roscommon.
Signed on the bottom front left.
This painting is titled "Clifden Bog", Connemara, Co Galway.
Gorgeous colors that capture the essence of an Irish Peat Bog in Summer.
If you are Irish-American (or any other ancestry for that matter) you will love this guy's work, it is quintessentially Irish!!!
He truly captures the spirit of Irish country living!!
His works are a historic visual record of changing times and times never to be seen again !
In summertime, over the centuries, Irish people have harvested peat from the peat bogs to make peat logs or "turf" as it is known, for winter fuel for the fire. Rural Irish people would own small bog plots and in the summer they would cut the peat logs and stack them in piles to dry. Once dry they were perfect fuel for the winter fire and stove.
Irish Bogs have their own unique native flora and fauna and this painting beautifully reflect this!
Irish Bogs are rapidly disappearing as is the practice of cutting and burning turf, carbon emissions and all that!!! -
