Description
This great oil on canvas by was painted by noted California artist Ross Shattuck in 1932. This figural Expressionist oil painting retains it’s original frame with original artists plaque. The unique lighting of the California coast is reflected in this image painted shortly after Ross Shattuck arrived in Laguna Beach, CA, from Chicago in 1929. During the 1930s he worked as an art director for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and as an instructor at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles. In the 1940s Ross Shattuck exhibited in San Francisco at Gumps and The California Palace of the Legion of Arts.
