Description
This ethereal and beautifully composed Mid-Century Modernist ‘Untitled’ Mixed Media Oil On Canvas & Lead Intaglio Painting by Sene Urbina, painted in Spain, C.1981. A large painting fitted with a custom recessed gallery frame in black ebonized walnut , the surface of the piece features a beautiful gradient of white to gray towards black descending across the surface and serving as the background from which a pyramidal structure rests, with diagonal white lines extending towards the corners of the painting, with black lines traveling upwards to frame a geometry around the bolder more primary forms. Horizontally crossing in front of the pyramid are bars of lead intaglio imbedded onto the surface of the painting, adding a remarkable material contrast and dimensionality to the piece. A surreal experience and highly geometric and versatile, this painting will style beautifully in a wide array of spaces and settings, from Mid-Century Modernist to Contemporary and Minimal Interiors. In Excellent Vintage Condition. Signed and dated 1981 by Senen Urbina on the bottom right corner of the canvas. Senen Ubiña, born in Spain in 1923 and deceased in 2012, was a distinguished contemporary artist celebrated for his vibrant and expressive paintings. His work often reflected a deep connection to his cultural heritage, skillfully blending traditional motifs with modern aesthetics. Ubiña's use of bold colors and dynamic compositions infused his pieces with unique energy, capturing both personal and universal themes.
