Description
Molly Dilworth "Contagian". Acrylic on canvas created in 2009. Measures: 35.5" W X 60.25" H. Signed on revers "Molly Dilworth/2009".
An interesting painting, acrylic on canvas depicting what first appears to be abstract images but which on closer inspection reveals itself to be an semi abstract beach scene with parasols and beach cabanas in shades of pink, black and white with splashes of turquoise and pale green. According to the artist a "Visual record of attempt to collapse two nodes in time"
Molly Dilworth is a Brooklyn-based artist who views creative practice as a form of research. Since earning her MFA from NYU in 2003, Dilworth has exhibited and performed nationally and internationally. Using data from a specific site as a structure, she gives form to things that invisibly motivate our actions. From rooftops to the Pedestrian plazas of Times Square, Dilworth has created outdoor site-specific paintings in New York City and exhibited across the United States. She has been a resident artist at the Salina Art Centre in Kansas and in the Art & Law Program with the Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts in NYC. Her work will be included in Spontaneous Interventions: design actions for the common good in the U.S. Pavilion at the 13th International Venice Architecture Biennale.
Featured and illustrated in NYC&G New York Cottages and Gardens, March 2013, "Silver Lining", pp. 61-67 in an superb interior created by renowned interior designer Celerie Kemble. -
