This exquisite Art Deco sculpture, titled “Élégante Aux Biches,” is an iconic work by Demétre Chiparus, one of the most celebrated artists of the period. Cast in detailed bronze and set atop an alabaster base, the piece depicts a graceful, fashionable woman standing alongside and feeding serene deer, exemplifying the elegance and refinement of 1920s French design.

The female figure kneels with an elegant poise, resting her elbow on her bent knee gently extending her finger tips towards the deer, neck retracted in anticipation. Her left arm holds a bunch of berries against her stomach. The elgant drapery of her dress and the exquisite detailing of her bonnet and features all sing alongside one another in precise elegance and style.

Signed “D. Constan,”a known pseudonym of Chiparus, the sculpture encapsulates the glamour and sophistication of the era, blending naturalistic detail with stylized Art Deco form.
