Oregon Wilson (American, 1845-1873) "Gypsy Dancer Odalisque" orientalist oil painting, circa 1870
A beautiful oil on canvas painting of an orientalist gypsy dancer in her garments by American artist Oregon Wilson, in original giltwood frame.
Signed lower right Oregon Wilson.
Oregon Wilson was active/lived in California and is known for Portrait and genre paintings. An East Coast artist, Wilson arrived in Santa Barbara a few months before his death there of typhoid fever on Sept. 27 1873. He was in the company of Senator Jones of Nevada whose portrait he had painted. His works were highly praised by the press at that time.
A stunning, vibrant painting, very good condition.
