Description
Using a paper negative, Alexei Hay creates unique and singular photographs that cannot be reproduced again. While the smaller negative is resin coated and will fade over time, the larger prints are a final edition of one. During the processing of the negative Hay employs the method of Solarization, a technique made famous by Man Ray and developed further by Wynn Bullock. This process reveals black and white lines surrounding different parts of the image and is impossible to fully control as each step of the image making is marked by the performance of light interacting with chemistry resulting in one-of-a-kind images.
