Description
This artwork is part of the acclaimed Vida Detenida series by Pedro Almodóvar (Spanish, b. 1949), the internationally celebrated filmmaker whose distinctive cinematic language has influenced generations. First exhibited in 2018 at the Marlborough Gallery in Madrid, this series marks a significant extension of Almodóvar’s visual world into fine art photography.
La Hora Zurbarán is a digital print on Dibond, produced with exceptional archival quality. The work transforms everyday objects—fruits, flowers, vases, and domestic elements—into emotionally charged still lifes, echoing the painterly atmosphere of Spanish Baroque masters such as Francisco de Zurbarán. The composition reveals Almodóvar’s characteristic mastery of color, light, and dramatic staging, translating cinematic sensibility into photographic form.
The piece epitomizes Almodóvar’s ability to elevate domestic spaces into intimate visual narratives that blend art, cinema, and contemporary culture. -
