Description
Veteran photographer Mitchell Funk strikes a fine balance between abstraction and representation in this optically pleasing color photograph. The sky turns pink magenta as waves crash on the rocks on Jersey Shore New Jersey. This pioneering multiple exposure photograph from 1972 was done in-camera on Kodachrome 25. It was taken 50 years ago and looks as contemporary as any recent photograph. Light skims off a shimmering sea and the waves turn colors from magenta to orange to blue to green. This was done in the pre-digital era and each of the colors represents a different exposure with a different colored gel that was places over the lens. The actual color of the work will slightly vary from monitor to monitor.
Signed numbered 2/15 and dated lower right recto, other sizes available, unframed, printed later.
