Chrysler Building Veiled in Silver and Grey
-
Description
Veiled in subtle gradations of silver and grey, the Chrysler Building proudly rises above a tight interlocking formation of less consequential neighbors. A new, boxy, and clumsy vertical competitor, called One Vanderbilt, flanks the Art Deco icon to the right. It frames the Chrysler Building and draws the viewer into the composition, directing the eye to the pointed spire. Photographer Mitchell Funk has bathed the image in a monochromatic color scheme, giving it a unique look as silvers and greys interact with each other. In the foreground, to the right, is an architectural element that is blurred, enhancing the image's uncommon beauty.
The image is part of a new epic exhibition, Mitchell Funk Photographs
The Chrysler Building is one of the most photographed buildings in the world. Yet Mitchell Funk's photographs of it are anything but a tourist snapshot. For 50 years, Funk has been celebrating and rediscovering it visually in a way that exemplifies the innovative spirit of its creators.
The work is signed dated and numbered 3/15 lower right recto, with other sizes available, 43 x 29, and it's unframed and printed later. Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper
