Description
Like a rocket ship poised to blast off, the Chrysler Building's crown is captured alongside an unexpectedly large flock of ascending birds, creating a once-magical, delightful scene. Both architecture and birds appear to have the same mission as they simultaneously thrust into the sky. The union of man-made objects and an animal "soaring" invites the viewer to join in the heart-pumping airborne exercise.
The image is part of a new epic exhibition, Mitchell Funk Photographs The Chrysler Building for 50 Years.
The Chrysler Building is one of the most photographed buildings in the world. Yet Mitchell Funk's photographs of it are anything but a tourist snapshot. For over 50 years, Funk has been celebrating and visually rediscovering it in ways that exemplify the innovative spirit of its creators.
The work is signed, dated, and numbered 3/15 in the lower right recto corner, with other sizes available. It is unframed and printed later. Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper
29 x 43 size available.
