Description
Street Photographer Mitchell Funk shoots an upward view of an old walkup in Hell's Kitchen with golden glittering light against a hot sky. The warm colors vaguely allude to the district's name. Yet as a city street photo ... it is quite beautiful with a luscious palette infused with warm oranges and yellows. The apparent residents are seen at the extreme base of the building lost in their daily activities. Funk's street style is more precise and composed than traditional snapshot street photography. He brings the compositional exactitude of studio photography to street photography and thereby redefines the contemporary aesthetic. Signed dated and numbered 2/15 lower right recto, other sizes available, printed later, unframed. This work is printed on fine art Hahnemuhle paper. The color will vary from monitor to monitor. Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of " Color Photography" In 1970 he participated in one the first " Color Photography" shows at a major museum. Brooklyn Museum, show "Images en Couleur" . 1971 Included he was included in the visionary book "Frontiers of Photography" Time-Life. Color ! American Photography Transformed. Amon Carter Museum. He has had more than 50 Photography Magazine Covers and has had covers on Newsweek, Fortune, New York Magazine and Life Magazine among others.
