Snow in Central Park Billionaire Row - Monochromatic Grey and Blue
-
Description
Color Photography pioneer Mitchell Funk is famous for blending representation with a broad emphasis on abstract qualities. He is a photographic minimalist cropping out extraneous details. His work focuses on color relations and interactions between shapes. Funk started shooting in 1969, and today he's still as active as ever and continues to innovate. In "Snow in Central Park Billionaires' Row," the work recalls the work of Milton Avery with its simplified pictorial structure and subtle interactions of sumptuous color. Funk was also an innovator in the "little man" picture. The foreground figure dwarfed by Central Park South's soaring edifices punctuates the composition with its punchy dot of red.
