Description
This fine Italian engraving depicts a graceful putto, a timeless symbol of innocence and charm that has populated the ceilings and galleries of Italy for centuries. The delicate etching captures the soft, rounded forms of the figure with a gentle hand, reflecting the enduring skill of printmakers dedicated to the classical tradition.
Circa 1800, this period work captures the romantic transition between the late 18th and early 19th centuries, a time when such classical motifs were celebrated with renewed fervor.
Printed on aged paper and presented in a mount, the work is housed in a frame finished in gilt that carries a warm, lived - in patina. Rooted in the Neoclassical tradition, this engraving reflects the era's deep reverence for antiquity and the graceful, balanced forms of the ancient world. -
