Description
A handsome pair of engravings by Giovanni Battista Volpato (1733-1803), reproducing the magnificent frescoes designed by Raphael for the Vatican Logge. These works capture the intricate arabesques and classical motifs that defined the High Renaissance, brought to a wider 18th century audience through Volpato's exceptionally fine linework.
Circa 1790, these original period engravings were produced during a time of renewed fascination with the Renaissance masters and the grandeur of the Vatican.
Etched and engraved on aged paper and presented as a complementary pair. Rooted in the Neoclassical tradition, these pieces reflect the late 18th century desire to document and celebrate the pinnacle of Italian artistic achievement with both precision and warmth. -
