Original Engraving from Annibale Carracci, "Loves of the Gods"

$ 595
  • Description
    An 18th century engraving after the celebrated Bolognese artist Annibale Carracci (1560–1609), depicting scenes from his monumental fresco cycle within the Palazzo Farnese. The work captures the "Loves of the Gods," a series of mythological narratives that redefined Roman painting through its dynamic figures and illusionistic architectural frames.
    Circa 1780, this original period engraving was produced during a time when Carracci’s designs were highly sought after by Grand Tour collectors and scholars of antiquity.
    Engraved on aged paper and presented with the fine, meticulous linework characteristic of 18th century reproductive printmaking. Rooted in the Baroque tradition with a strong Neoclassical influence, this piece reflects the era’s deep reverence for classical mythology and the enduring legacy of the Italian masters.
