Dante was named after the epic poem Dante’s Inferno, about a pilgrim who embarks on a deep spiritual journey through the many realms of death. While at first this sounds a bit dark, I actually found his name to be beautiful and so representative of the intangible sense of knowing that our dogs have. It always seems as though they have passed through the things we humans haven’t yet figured out, and that very understanding is what allows them to experience this life so freely, with only love and gratefulness.
