Shawn the Meishan was a sight for sore eyes—though I’m not sure he could say the same for us. In fact, I’m not sure if he could see us at all. Meishan pigs are known for their squishy, shar-pei-like faces and obstructed vision, but what they may not sense with their eyes they make up for with their keen sense of smell. This rare and lovable breed is celebrated around the world for its docile temperament and laid-back personality. Shawn remained as cool as a cucumber on set and glistened like one, too, thanks to the refreshing spritzes from his favorite water bottle. Shawn loved to be misted and would raise his head toward the nozzle (and my lens) each time he was ready for another spray. Soak it up bud, you deserve it.
