Description
Modernist Abstract Lithograph w/ Multicolor Looping Line Work signed Yaakov Agam
$1,845.00
This Lovely Modernist Lithograph Originates from the Israeli born artist Yaakov Agam (made in Paris, France Circa 1980). This Lithograph is an Artist's Proof and a member of Agam's "Swirls" series exploring movement and overlapping lines and color relationships. The energy is fresh and grand at a reserved scale, the balance and play of structural relationships and forms is lively yet calculated, the detail emerging from a self contained spiral movement that opens elegantly at the outermost swoop to the left side of the composition. A lovely piece in an original polished chrome frame, this colorful abstraction will style beautifully in a wide array of interiors and is versatile without sacrificing striking visual presence and and a playful explorative energy. The son of an orthodox rabbi, Agam began his training as an artist in Jerusalem, going on to combine a formalist approach with cabalistic mysticism. He is also credited with introducing geometric abstraction to Israeli art. Agam’s best known series of works, comprised of painted strips that seem to shift as viewers alter their points of view became known as Agamographs. He also produced public commissions, one being the world’s largest menorah currently installed in New York City. This piece In Excellent Vintage Condition.
