Description
19th Century French sculptor Vanet depicts the classic Mother and Child where the child is harmoniously nestled in the arms of the mother. It's executed in the Neoclassical style. The figural group is raised on the rectangular base that is part of the marble. The marble sculpture is masterfully crafted from one block of Carrara marble, Signed on verso. The work is deceptively heavy. It's best view on a higher pedestal with top key light or side light. It is quite heavy and a bit over 50 lbs
