Description
Here for your consideration is a very well executed watercolor with traces of graphite under drawing on archival paper by the French artist, Georges Marchou. Signed lower right. Circa 1950. Condition is good to very good. Light foxing in sky only. The artwork is framed in an ebonized and florentine gold frame 21.75 by 24.25 inches. Provenance: a New Jersey estate.
Biography Georges Marchou
Painter from Bordeaux, France. Student of Ernest Laurent at the School of Fine Arts in Paris. Influenced by works by Gauguin, Sérusier, Vuillard, Bonnard and Van Gogh (Source Bénézit) -
This painter was considered by some to be the last of the Fauves because of this palette and a gift for evoking humaneness. Marchou was influenced by the group called the Nabis. - More Information
