Description
Charcoal, pencil, oil, pastel on paper
Sa Hara is a Korean artist born in 1975 who lives and works in Seoul, South Korea. She is graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration at Dongguk University. Through Physical Theatre, the artist explores how characters reflect one another, expressing freedom and imagination through bodily performance. With a keen interest in the movement of the human body, observations are transformed into unique works that convey the unrestricted freedom of the mind. Each work contains a narrative, featuring characters and networks of relationships. These relationships are not confined by social or legal structures but instead reflect a worldview of relative freedom. Using the non-verbal language of bodily movement, the characters perform as if on stage, reflecting each other, becoming aspects of one another, and giving rise to thoughts and actions, thus existing through each other and forming the whole. The artist draws inspiration from human movement, real-life stories of relationships, fictional novels, and videos on Instagram and YouTube. Plants, books, music, dance, and various forms of art also provide intellectual stimuli, which are combined with imagination to create the works. -
