Description
Highly, important and unique French Empire style bedroom set or suite, in the manner and style of Francois Linke, from circa 1880.
Not marked for the maker, but under the marble top on the commode there are 2 names written in pencil: (1) M. Le Youters (?) and (2) M. Daneels.
You will not find another complete suite like this anywhere.
The suite includes: European king-size bed.
Two matching bedside lockers with original white marble tops.
Matching large wall armoire/wardrobe with original mirrors.
Matching wall/dressing mirror.
Matching commode with original marble top.
The suite is almost completely original, save the bed which was originally twin size, but professionally commissioned to be customized and converted into a king-size for modern practicality. The quality of the conversion matches the quality of the suite.
All pieces have ormolu gilt mounted fittings; beautiful patina, beautiful parquetry; simply stunning !
About 10 years ago, I saw the 'identical twin' of the commode in an Antique Store on Central Park in New York, however it had a less desirable green marble top (IMHO), and they were looking for 30k USD for the dressing table on its own!
This suite/set is so good that it is the main exhibit in our rear showroom.
Dimensions:
Bed: 74 inches wide, 81 inches long and 12 inches high to mattress base
Headboard : 51 inches tall and baseboard is 37 inches tall
Wardrobe/Armoire: 79 inches wide, 89 inches tall and 24 inches deep
Commode: 33 inches tall, 49 inches wide and 23.5 inches deep
Nightstands: Each: 30.25 inches tall, 16.25 inches wide and 14.75 inches deep
Wall mirror: 76 inches tall and 43.5 inches wide. -
