Rare and Complete French Art Deco Bedroom Suite — Elegant Geometric Design with Matching Elements
This magnificent and fully intact 10-piece French Art Deco bedroom suite represents the sophisticated craftsmanship and design innovation of the late 1920s to early 1930s. Executed in rich mahogany and dramatically figured walnut-mahogany veneers, this suite exudes warmth, refinement, and the streamlined modernism synonymous with the Art Deco movement. Could be split in two sets if necessary.
What sets this suite apart is the exceptional level of consistency in its design vocabulary. The vertical ebonized wood inlays frame every piece, anchoring the forms with dramatic contrast. Highly polished chrome or nickel-plated metal trim punctuates the furniture’s geometry, providing brilliant highlights against the warm tones of mahogany. This trim is not only decorative but structural, outlining drawer fronts, bed panels, and tabletop edges in clean, precise lines.
The ensemble includes:
*Twin beds with a unified headboard and footboard design, convertible to form a king-size bed
Two "highboy" tall dressers with stepped drawers and sculptural chrome pulls
Two "lowboy" dressers featuring geometric drawer composition and fine metal trim
Matching nightstands that echo the same materials and design language throughout
A striking vanity with an original mirror stepped wood edge and matching chair
The veneered drawer fronts are laid in opposing diagonal or bookmatched patterns, enhancing visual movement and symmetry. Drawer handles are pure Art Deco — stepped, streamlined, and set in gleaming chrome. The vanity mirror is flanked by architectural stepped side panels, while the matching chair mimics these themes in its sculptural backrest and ebonized leg insets.
Even the feet of each piece display deliberate detailing, with gently rounded legs capped in metal bands — a motif echoed in both the nightstands and dressers. The bed’s unique footboard, composed of sculpted mahogany panels with notched top edges and metal edging, transforms two twin frames into a commanding king-size statement piece.
This suite is remarkably complete — a rarity for Art Deco furniture of this caliber. The preservation of its matching elements, original hardware, and cohesive visual language speaks to its quality and care over the years. It would be the centerpiece of any Art Deco interior, ideal for collectors or designers seeking authenticity and impact.
