Shell Carved Mahogany Headboard
-
Description
This is a beautifully detailed shell carving positioned in the center of a well-elaborated pediment. This panel appears to be the top section of a stately headboard. The 77 inch width would allow it to be used as a contemporary headboard if positioned over a standard king-sized mattress. Antique beds or elements the width of a king-sized mattress (80 inches) are uncommon, making this gorgeous carved fragments a true find. In additional to a headboard, this carving could serve as decorative element in multiple designs, including surmounting a credenza or large door or portico.
