-
Description
This is a very good example of a Shigaraki Tsubo vessel whose intended purpose was to contain water. Note the spout located at the bottom of the jar. This example of Shigaraki ware is drip glazed in an intense green, which is a mark of quality and which is very desirable. The Tsubo dates to the end of the Edo or beginning of the Meiji period.
**Please note there is considerable light refraction on the high gloss glaze of the Tsubo and the white marks are not flaws. -
