A beautifully carved three-drawer commode from Provence, dating to the early 18th century, during the transition from the Louis XIV to Régence period. Crafted in solid walnut with a warm, glowing patina that has developed over centuries, this piece reflects the expressive, regional interpretation of courtly French design so characteristic of the South of France.
The façade features hand-carved floral garlands and stylized sunflower motifs — a beloved Provençal emblem symbolizing warmth, vitality, and the sun-drenched fields of the region. Elegant molded frames outline each drawer, centering cartouche-shaped reserves that lend depth and sculptural dimension. The drawer pulls and escutcheons are original and retain their soft gilt and aged brass tones, adding subtle luster.
