Description
Beautifully proportioned, constructed and finished, this unique and remarkable Art Deco cabinet is covered with leather dyed a rich, deep red color, and features four Art Deco bronze mounts depicting nude figures celebrating Music and Art. The bronzes are by Marcel Claude Renard, who was known for his bas relief and three dimensional sculptures, so clearly this piece signifies a close collaboration between Renard and an important furniture designer of the day. The mounts are set in open panels and held in place by decorative bronze settings, the backs of each panel finished in a lovely blonde maple which hints at the maple lining of the cabinet's interior. The entire cabinet is mounted on a handsome walnut base supported by large cushion feet. The top is finished with matching red leather as well. The bronze hardware is sophisticated and unusual .
